I too want to be a Skinny Bitch

Damn those two Skinny Bitches for writing such a hilarious, yet informative book! I wont pretend I plan on being a vegan from this day forward - but I will go back to laying off food with ingredients I can't pronounce (college gets the best of all of us). I was at Target yesterday and picked up a copy of Skinny Bitch - a book that gives you the skinny on getting, skinny (or so they would have you believe). I had heard about the book from a few of my girlfriends so I decided to see what all the fuss was about. This book ROCKS! The language is a little more than sassy and the details can make you a little queasy (I will never look at chicken the same way again), but the two authors, Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin, really know their stuff. The book basically tells you what most of us have known all our lives: eat right, get a little exercise and you'll stay looking and feeling good, DUH! But the book also includes info about the foods we eat, where that food comes from and how it gets to us. If you haven't read it I definitely recommend picking up your own copy - even if it's just to be a little more in the know about what goes into the food we eat.

How Fabulous...

I am completely in love with Condé Nast's online store - they have so many gorgeous prints available, featuring vintage covers, photographs, and illustrations from their publications it's hard to pick just one (though I am always a fan of things in multiple - why have 1 when you can have 6!). They're also relatively inexpensive for such beautiful vintage illustration and photography. Here are a few of my personal faves:

Always say Thank You!

Proper etiquette states that whenever visiting someone's home for an event, no matter how big or small, one must always bring a hostess gift. Some may question this but the answer is always - "Yes, you must always bring something." A hostess has spent a lot of time and effort into making an event special and a hostess gift is a way of thanking them. I find that most hostess gift guides have become somewhat mundane and all recommend a candle or a bottle of wine, how boring is that?! Instead, why not bring something totally original that the hostess with really LOVE!

Try: a set of bamboo salad tongs, Sprinkles cupcake mix for the hostess that loves to bake, a stylish Lady Jayne Writer's Block note cube, a bag of delicious gourmet Plush Puffs marshmallows, a bar of hand-milled French soap, a tube of decorative fireplace matches, or a bottle of flavor infused honey from Savannah Bee Co.

Throwing the Perfect Party

I was out and about running errands for the baby shower I am planning (I have a new baby cousin on the way and am in the midst of creating a fabulous, yet casual jungle themed co-ed shower for around 40 guests) and ran across this book. It is by far one of the cutest party planning books I have found yet! This book is packed full of great event planning ideas for year round soirees, birthday parties, brunch, etc... The thing I love most about this book is the way it shows you a COMPLETE party idea - invite to favor - with great recipes, games, prizes, decorations, and even keepsake ideas for new parents or newlyweds. I will definitely be using this book to help me add little touches to the baby shower underway.

The Age of Puffing

I recently purchased two vintage reproduction prints off eBay from Europe for about $3 each (a great bargain for cool, unique art) - but they're sized funny and I'm having trouble deciding on how to frame them since my heart was originally set on simple black "frame-less" frames. Oh well... I'm off in search of come cool frames to pair with great custom cut mats!

I was able to tour THREE amazing multi-million-dollar homes and take pictures off all the things I found inspiring... 188 pictures and two camera batteries later - I had a lot to choose from to share with all of you! I hope you enjoy!!
