{god bless the girl scouts}

Images from Girlscouts.org
It's GIRL SCOUT COOKIE TIME!!! I have a love/hate relationship with Girl Scout Cookies {who doesn't}... They're ridiculously good and only come around once a year, so you find yourself ordering six boxes of your favorite flavors so you can horde them away for anytime you need a cookie fix and just when the cookies are gone and you've forgotten how much you miss them and how delicious Tagalogs are, there they are again, presented to you by an adorable little thing in a cute little green uniform and you fork over your $63 for your tower of cookies! I must give the Girl Scouts of today props though, they know how to sell some cookies. Most of those clever little chickies have neighborhood e-mail lists and accept Visa!

{blair woldorf aint got nothin' on ralph}

Each Monday, as I sit glued to the TV for a full hour, watching non-Tivo-accelerated television, I find myself wishing I too could have attended Constance School For Girls in the Upper East Side, but sadly, I did not. However, with Ralph Lauren's RUGBY store I can at least look the part. The prep-school feel of RUGBY is just enough pomp and plaid without feeling stuffy or too-buttoned-up. I think Blair Woldorf and the girls of the steps would approve...

{iphone is taking over the world}

It's official. I am the only person left without an iPhone. Well.. maybe that's an exaggeration.. but seriously - EVERYONE I KNOW HAS AN IPHONE. It's crazy! I feel so out of the loop and disconnected from the iPhone community. While everyone is perusing the latest Perez page or ordering some JCrew, I'm playing Bubble Breaker and making lists in "Note" on my lame-o BlackJack! I want.. no NEED to be able to check Facebook 839,909,393 times a day and be able to instantly retrieve directions or restaurant menus at lightning speed. I'm coming for your iPhone...

{spring 2009 color forcast}

"Spring traditionally evokes a sense of freshness and new beginnings, with sprouting shoots and blossoming flowers that inspire designers to breakout of winter doldrums. Bright colors return to the top 10 list for spring 2009, as designers incorporate vibrant pops into their collections, yet temper the vibrancy with deeper, translucent or neutral tones." - Pantone.com

This spring is all about reinterpreted bright colors into new muted or neutral shades - over the next 10 days (give or take), Southern Flair will feature posts inspired by the color palette for spring.

{mexican sugar molds}

I love the rustic + eco-friendly vibe of old Mexican sugar molds. Mexican moldes de azucar or sugar molds, have been used for centuries throughout Mexico and Latin American to create cones of cane sugar. Sugar cane was pressed in the molds to remove the sweet pulp inside which was then heated, rendering a flowable liquid that was poured into the molds and allowed to cool. Solid cones would form that could be easily stored for future use. Sugar molds today make wonderful accent pieces for tables, mantels or counters. Find yours online here at Direct from Mexico or check local flea markets and antique stores.

{addiction}

Hi. My name is Allison and I have an addiction. I am a Donkey Kick lite addict.
It all started about 8 years ago, when the energy drink craze began. Companies were turning out energy drinks left and right, trying to compete with the untouchable {yet, surprisingly disgusting} RedBull. QuickTrip {my favorite gas station - I know it may seem strange to have a favorite gas station, but if you've ever been to a QuickTrip, you would understand} began carrying energy drinks called Rooster Booster and Rooster Booster lite. Being calorie conscious I chose the lite variety, which was tasty but then other flavors appeared: Donkey Kick, Donkey Kick lite, Ram Jam and Dr Dogg. I decided to test out the DK lite - this is where I went wrong. It is DELICIOUS! It makes RedBull taste like - well, RedBull {I couldn't think of anything more disgusting} and has ZERO calories! The problem is I can only find DK lite at QuickTrip and we do not have QuickTrip in LA!! If anyone knows where I could get a Kick fix or a way to order in BULK - let me know! And whatever you do - DO NOT try Donkey Kick lite... unless you have a QuickTrip nearby.
