What I Want NOW!

Here are just a few of the things I have my eye on to keep cool in the soon approaching warm weather:

The most perfect and versatile pair of tan leather flats from Frye Boots, I have a pair of their boots that I adore! As some of you may know the Safari trend is HUGE for Spring and Summer, and I am definitely snatching up this shirt dress from Victoria's Secret.

I clearly have a shoe fetish right now because I am also in love with a certain pair of turquoise t-strap sandals, also at Vicki's for Spring, and if anyone is looking for an "errands" shoe, Van's classic slip-ons are so comfortable. What would go better with a pair of turquoise t-straps than a classic pair of white jeans! JCrew has the best pair right now - great cut and great price.

Clothing aside, I also have Benefit's other fabulous cheek stain on my wish list, Benetint gives you a just-pinched look all day (and the tiny bottle lasts forever). I also have one last little thing I'm dying for and that is Marc Jacob's new Daisy perfume. It is well known to my friends and family that daisies are my favorite flower and I love how cute the little bottle is!

Last but not least - I can't wait to finally get a really amazing turquoise ring and Barse makes tons of them! I LOVE turquoise jewelry - it makes any ensemble instantly cooler!

Nautical Desk Accessories

Crisp aqua and antique brass - what a smart combination! These two brilliantly classic hues work perfectly together to create a totally workable office space. If you're looking for just a sprinkle of nautical flair why not jot down all those pesky to-do's on a bright blue striped lobster notepad from Boatman Geller or stay organized with a pretty leather planner in a calming shade of aqua blue. If you're really wanting to escape while you work go all out and accessorize your office from top to bottom with a cute lobster made from carved ivory or a shell handled magnifying glass. Keep paperwork together with a nautical paperweight and clock out on time with a unique antique-inspired brass desk clock.

In much need of a great (and inexpensive chair) for my living room I perused CraigsList of Baton Rouge and found a STEAL for $20! I originally wanted to paint the chair, but decided the wood was too beautiful to cover up, I did however hate the blue crushed velvet that was covering the seat. I found a great natural linen with an appliquéd coral motif and dropped off the chair at a small local upholstery shop. Four days later I'm sitting pretty in my "new" chair!

Lucky Clover

St. Patrick's Day is fast approaching! Find a new way to wear green that doesn’t include a cheesy glittered-shamrock t-shirt with a new dress! In a splendid shade of grass green you'll be ready for spring and while you're feeling festive in your new frock why not whip up a batch of delicious shamrock cupcakes served on a ruffled platter. Pale green shamrock soaps make a great gift for your favorite little leprechaun - and when they come prepackaged in a simple gold box and tied with a bow sharing the St. Patrick's Day spirit has never been easier! Great Beauty Buys

I must admit I'm a bit of a beauty product junkie, show me something with insanely cool packaging and a sassy name and I'm game! However, I do have a few staple products that I don’t know it I could live without. The best shampoo I have ever used is Aveda's Rosemary Mint, the mint has tonic properties and makes your hair feel and smell oh-so-clean, I love it!

I also love a great sun-kissed bod, L'Oreal makes the best self-tanner I've ever used (and I've tried a lot), it's tinted so you can see where it goes and dries quickly - a little self-tanner and some help from Benefits Glamazon cheek stain and Dallas blush has definitely helped me get through the rainy Southern winters.

My all-time favorite lip balm is Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush balm, it's smooth, not sticky and provides great but subtle shine, I use it constantly and at $6.50 you can't beat it! Whenever I want a little more glamour I swipe on MAC's Viva La Glam V, the pearly neutral pink compliments any and all skin tones, all my girlfriends have a tube (or three).

And finally, it took me FOREVER to find a facial scrub I really love, but Kiehl's Pineapple Papaya Scrub works wonders! You can even leave it on for a minute or two and the acid in the pineapple help to exfoliate skin. Plus the tiny pieces of pineapple and papaya give the scrub a light and delicious tropical scent.

But the best thing about all of my favorite products is that they're ALL under $30! I hope you try them - it will change your life, or at least your beauty routine.

A Salute to Switzerland

I have been stumbling across some really cool stuff lately in a common theme: Switzerland! Here are some of the items I thought were fun and would make unique gifts. Did you know the Swiss are accredited with inventing cheese fondue? YUM! Who wouldn't have fun eating gooey cheese fondue from this gorgeous copper fondue set from William-Sonoma. I love the light charcoal color of the Vintage Swiss Army blanket and the clean lines of the red and white Swiss Flag espresso cups would give anyone an jolt of international energy. Jonathan Adler has some awesome wool 'Cross' pillows that you can customize by choosing from their ultra-modern selection of different colored wools.
